Fairy tale-teller extraordinaire, Ben Haggarty, brings us a night of old skool storytelling! This mash-up of Scots tinker and Romanian gypsy fairy tales, comes complete with boys becoming men; men becoming women; the darkest of arts; inescapable destiny, and a baby sister who isn’t quite what anyone expected…

These are some of the first fairy tales Ben Haggarty ever told. Tough, beautiful and filled with magic, they’ll take you about as high as you can go….to about as low as you can go….and make way for something a bit more difficult than ‘happy ever after.’

In Trickster’s wonderland a man mimics a waterfall and almost gets away with it, a woman hides her doll-sized sister in her plaited hair, and we all journey to the edge of the earth.

Expect gleeful deceit, anarchic tomfoolery and everything earthy, brutal and bold.

Storytelling queen Jan Blake, and eclectic troubadour and player of fantasy instruments Silver Sepp, journey through the unpredictable, ambiguous & beguiling dream-scape of Haitian folktales, inspired by Diane Wolkstein’s seminal collection The Magic Orange Tree. This is the book that Ben Haggarty pressed into Jan Blake’s hands 30 years ago and told her that she was a storyteller…the rest is history.

This is storytelling to draw the stars down to the windows to listen….
